Pennsylvania's counties

In the United States, a county is a local level of government below the state. Counties are used in 48 of the 50 states, while Louisiana is divided into parishes and Alaska into boroughs. Counties were set up to make laws at a more local level than the state level. Counties have a government that makes laws and regulations for the people that live in its boundaries. The government of the county is usually in a town called the county seat.

Pennsylvania is divided into 67 counties. You can see those counties on the map below.
